Marian Vavra
When Marian has straw in her hand she is a happy person. Living in the
middle of Kansas for the past 19 years has inspired her straw art.
She makes traditional and contemporary wheat weavings, designs original
pieces, and does commissioned work. She teaches, demonstrates, and
exhibits at local, state, and national levels. She feels that straw art
is part of her inner being and provides a spiritual connection to her
farming roots.
Kansas Cross
$50

Marian is well known for her crosses.
She has recreated this cross for the
American Museum of Straw Art.
In folk belief straw crosses
represent hope and faith.
